Currently, I am coordinating my efforts to get involved in activities beyond the regular consulting routines within the perfume and cosmetics industry. In 2013, one of my initiatives is to organize and chair a session at the Fourth International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Emotional Geographies which is taking place from July 1-3, 2013 at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. As the conference website claims, the “conference provides a forum for a range of people from different disciplinary backgrounds as well as societal partners and artists to creatively explore the role of emotion in thinking about and experiencing space and society.” Read more
On my recent travels to exhibitions in Paris (Beyond Beauty) and Florence (Pitti Fragranze), I recognized the rich diversity of small brands that are seemingly growing in numbers. I think the motivations to create products (be it fragrances or cosmetic products) are, usually, very considered, considerable. and show a certain engagement with topics that are relevant for the owner/creator behind a brand.
Esxence in Milan is known to be one of the few international meeting and exchange points in the field of artistic perfumery. The 4th edition of Esxence – The Scent of Excellence – (March 29-April 1, 2012) brought together significant producers, perfumers, distributors, sales agents, press representatives, online commentators, industry experts and scent aficionados from around the world. The event enabled to open new doors, write orders, talk about scents and scent impressions, introduce new brands, exchange expertise about different markets and market environments, get to know decision makers from other companies and countries, and speak about future projetcs. A parallel speakers’ and presenters’ program with writers, researchers, and top-notch experts and commentators highlighted that the ambition to translate the materialized art of scents into spoken words and written letters remains challenging.
