From November 21, 2014, until February 4, 2015, “The Art of Scent” (El Arte del Perfume) is taking place at Circulo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. This is an exhibition of great artworks in perfumery (1889-2014), curated by author and former perfume critic of the New York Times, Chandler Burr. “The Art of Scent” was first shown at the Museum of Art and Design, New York, from November 2012-March 2013.
As the website explains: “The Art of Scent is the first exhibition devoted to scent as an artistic medium, and it is curated by expert Chandler Burr. The exhibition —first shown in 2012 at the New York Museum of Arts and Design, where it attracted 150,000 visitors— places olfactory art in the context of art history, and considers creators of perfumes as artists linked to specific aesthetic movements.”
It was a pleasure to help during the initial stages of the organization. Kudos in particular to Erik Schoonhoven, the coordinator and editor of the event in Madrid. I am happy to be listed among the collaborators of this unique project.
